MENAI STRAIT TIDE TABLES

Mean Spring Tide Currents

The figures show the mean spring tidal currents (in knots) and elevation (in metres) along the Menai Strait for different states of the tide relative to HW Liverpool.  Speeds above the zero line indicate flow that is towards Puffin; below the zero line flow is towards Fort Belan.  Surface elevation can be seen to slope in the direction of current flow.  Flows at neap tides are about half those shown.  Note that the near shore slows are slower, whilst around rocks and in certain narrows (e.g. the Suspension Bridge) they are faster than shown.

The figures are held in pdf format and require an Acrobat reader to view them.
